Jiří Němeček
Czech Technical University in Prague, Czech Republic
Jiří Němeček is an Associate professor at the Department of Mechanics, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague (since 2010) where he also received his doctorate in 2000. His research activities include materials and microstructure characterization (mainly cementitious and related composites: fly-ash, FRC, HPC, nanofibers) by advanced experimental techniques (nanoindentation; AFM; SEM) coupled with numerical modeling of microstructures and using multi-scale models. His works deal also with application of nanotechnologies in construction sector.
He teaches in graduate courses of structural mechanics, he has authored over 40 journal papers and edited a book (Nanoindentation in Materials Science, Intech 2012). He serves as associate editor of international journals (Nanotechnology in Built Environments, International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Nanotechnology) and conference organizer (Nanotechnology in Construction 2009, Local Mechanical Properties 2009, 5th International Conference on Nanotechnology: Fundamentals and Applications 2014). Dr. Němeček is a member of scientific and editorial boards (Civil-comp, Nicom 3-5, LPM 2009-15). He regularly gives speeches at international conferences and universities and in 2013 he was awarded by the prestigious Fulbright scholarship which he spent in Boulder, University of Colorado (2013/14).
